Improperly adjusted valves can create knocking, clacking sounds, loss of power and poor efficiency. In extreme situations cause damage to the valve train, push rods, cam shafts, rocker arms, valve springs and the valves themselves. Out of spec valve clearances can lead to hard starts, causing an over crank alarm.
