EndSars Protests: Averting A Recurrence

In October 2020, young Nigerians took to the streets demanding the disbandment of the special anti-robbery squad unit of the Nigerian police force {SARS}and good governance from the current administration.

The protests rocked several cities across the country and drew global reactions. The major lines of ethnicity that used to colour most agitations were missing.

What began as peaceful protests soon degenerated into chaos following the alleged Lekki toll gate massacre as peaceful protesters were attacked.

Gist Nigeria revisits the events which led to the unrest as the country awaits the outcome of the judicial panel investigating the incidents.
