The Maidams, situated in Charaideo district of Assam, are burial grounds of Ahom Kings and Queens. Comparable to the pyramids of Egypt, the maidam is the Third World heritage Site of Assam and 43rd of India. It was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site List, making it the first cultural property from the Northeast to get the coveted tag.
