Cosmopolitan is an American quarterly fashion and entertainment magazine for women, first published in New York City in March 1886 as a family magazine. Over time, it evolved into a literary publication before transforming into a women’s magazine in 1965. Today, Cosmopolitan is among the best-selling magazines.

Originally titled The Cosmopolitan and often called Cosmo, the magazine has continuously adapted its style and focus. It began as a women’s fashion magazine featuring articles on home, family, and cooking. For a period, its content centered on fiction, showcasing short stories, novels, and other literary works. Eventually, under the leadership of editor-in-chief Helen Gurley Brown, it shifted toward a women’s empowerment focus.

Currently, Cosmopolitan covers a wide range of topics, including relationships, sex, health, careers, self-improvement, fashion, beauty, horoscopes, celebrities, and modern lifestyle trends.
