In this episode I spent a couple of days at Mono Lake in California. A weird and wonderful place that sometimes rewards a visitor with spectacular light. The tufas are the remains of old underwater springs that were created by precipitation of limestone from the calcium in the vent water and the carbonates in the lake water. Over time these spectacular formations were created. As the lake has retreated over the past decades due to water diversion and drought the tufas have become exposed. Mono Lake and the surrounding area is one of my favorite locations to photograph.
