Qinhuai Riverside 秦淮河畔

Qinhuai River, a tributary on the right bank of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River in China. It was called Longzangpu in ancient times, it was called Huaishui in the Han Dynasty, and it was renamed Qinhuai after the Tang Dynasty. The Qinhuai River has two sources in the north and the south. The Jurong River in the north originates from the southern foot of Baohua Mountain in Jurong City, and the Lishui River originates in the East Lushan Mountain in Lishui District, Nanjing City. The main stream of the river bypasses Fangshan to the northwest to Shangfang Gate, the gate of the outer city, flows into Nanjing City from Dongshuiguan, traverses the main city of Nanjing from east to west, flows out from Xishuiguan in the south, and flows into the Yangtze River.
Most of the Qinhuai River is within the territory of Nanjing. It is the largest regional river in Nanjing. In history, its shipping and irrigation functions have bred the ancient civilization of Nanjing. It is called the mother river of Nanjing. It is very famous in history and is called "China's No. 1 Historical and Cultural River".
秦淮河，中国长江下游右岸支流。古称龙藏浦，汉代起称淮水，唐以后改称秦淮。 秦淮河有南北两源，北源句容河发源于句容市宝华山南麓，南源溧水河发源于南京市溧水区东庐山，两河在南京市江宁区方山埭西北村汇合成秦淮河干流，绕过方山向西北至外城城门上坊门从东水关流入南京城，由东向西横贯南京主城，南部从西水关流出，注入长江。
秦淮河大部分在南京市境内，是南京市最大的地区性河流， 历史上，其航运、灌溉作用，孕育了南京古老文明，被称为南京的母亲河，历史上极富盛名，被称为“中国第一历史文化名河”。
