Ciudad Rodrigo, which has Historic-Artistic Site status, is a famous fortified town situated in the west of the province of Salamanca.Its walls enclose a rich heritage of civic and religious buildings, the most important of which are the Cathedral and the Castle.
The main defining feature of the city is the imposing medieval wall that surrounds it. This was constructed in the 12th century during the reign of Ferdinand II, although alterations were subsequently carried out during the 18th century.
Ciudad Rodrigo lived its moments of greatest splendor during the 15th and 16th centuries, being the residence of the nobility; it is during this period that most of the religious monuments, palaces, temples and manor houses that are preserved today were built.
In terms of culture, Ciudad Rodrigo is also popularly known for Carnaval del Toro (bull carnival).

Ciudad Rodrigo, que tiene el estatus de Conjunto Histórico-Artístico, es una famosa ciudad fortificada situada en el oeste de la provincia de Salamanca.
Sus murallas encierran un rico patrimonio de edificios cívicos y religiosos, siendo los más importantes la Catedral y el Castillo.
La principal característica de la ciudad es la imponente muralla medieval que la rodea. Fue construida en el siglo XII durante el reinado de Fernando II, aunque posteriormente se llevaron a cabo reformas durante el siglo XVIII.
Ciudad Rodrigo vivió sus momentos de mayor esplendor durante los siglos XV y XVI, siendo residencia de la nobleza; es durante este período que se construyen la mayoría de los monumentos religiosos, palacios, templos y casas señoriales que se conservan en la actualidad.
En términos de cultura, Ciudad Rodrigo también es conocida popularmente por el Carnaval del Toro.
