日本列島を東西に分ける中央分水嶺。その一部をなす高島トレイルは、滋賀県と福井県の県境を中心に、琵琶湖と日本海を分ける水の分かれ道をたどる縦走路です。

このトレイルには、ブナ林が美しい静かな稜線や、四季折々の自然に加え、鯖街道などの古道や信仰の道が交差し、かつての人々の営みの痕跡が今も色濃く残されています。

乗鞍岳、赤坂山、大谷山、大御影山、三重嶽、武奈ヶ嶽、若狭駒ヶ岳、百里ヶ岳、三国岳など、
高島トレイルを代表する山々⛰️朽木エリア・今津エリア・マキノエリアにまたがり、地形も雰囲気も少しずつ異なる多彩な表情を見せてくれます。

この動画シリーズでは、実際に歩いて撮影した映像を通して、自然と歴史が共存する高島トレイルの魅力を提示できたらと思います⛰️ 山歩きの楽しさに加え、古道に残る歴史の面影もぜひみてください❗️

Walking the Central Watershed of the Takashima Trail | A Mountain Path Where Nature and History Intersect

The Central Watershed divides the Japanese archipelago into eastern and western regions.
The Takashima Trail, which follows a section of this watershed, is a long-distance ridge route tracing the divide between Lake Biwa and the Sea of Japan, mainly along the border between Shiga and Fukui Prefectures.

This trail offers more than just quiet ridgelines lined with beautiful beech forests and scenery that changes with the seasons.
It also intersects with ancient routes such as the Saba Kaidō (Mackerel Road) and old pilgrimage paths, preserving traces of life and travel from generations past.

In this journey, I walked across some of the trail’s most iconic peaks:
Mt. Norikura, Mt. Akasaka, Mt. Otani, Mt. Omikage, Mt. Sanjogadake, Mt. Bunagatake, Mt. Wakasa-Komagatake, Mt. Hyakurigadake, and Mt. Sangoku.

The trail spans the Kutsuki, Imazu, and Makino regions, each with its own unique terrain and atmosphere.

Through this video series, I hope to share the beauty of the Takashima Trail as I experienced it—
not only the joy of walking through nature, but also the history and memories left behind on these old mountain roads. ⛰️
