This particular episode of 4 corners titled, At the End of the Day, went to air at the time when the Howard government was introducing it's new industrial laws to allow employees to enter agreements (EBA) with their employers. Most workers enjoyed the unity & protection the unions offered, & in the beginning only a few took to the idea of Reith's unpopular changes. Some of the footage shown, is shot in Newcastle, NSW at the Broadmeadow Goninan Engineering site where I was employed at the time.
