We start with a basis of vectors, which is neither necessarily orthogonal or unital. We construct the dual or reciprocal basis to this given basis. We show that the coefficients of any vector expanded in this dual contravariant basis (known as covariant components) transform in a special way. We examine this relationship and call it a covariant transformation law.
