This video discusses miQuella of MXFRUIT and her journey from singing in school to becoming Thailand’s first half Black idol. Born to her Rwandan mother ( Rwanda, East Africa ) and her English father ( UK, United Kingdom, Europe ), Michaela Olivia Baker was named after former soccer player Michael Owen of the Real Madrid and Manchester United football teams. Her family moved from England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 ( Britain ) and the U.S. ( United States, North America ) to Hat Yai, Thailand ( Southeast Asia ) when she was young. She passed an audition to become a Thai pop trainee with “Mushroom Chocolate” by Quin and 6lack, later making her T-Pop debut with her girl group’s English single “Strawberry Ice Cream” under TADA Entertainment through ILY LAB. The mixed race singer (half Black African, half white British) is one of 5 members of her band including Skawduan, Oppapech, Knomjean, and Rochelle, who have become known for their iconic style and bright, bubbly sound. With the MXFRUIT members, the pop star promoted on Vogue Thailand, attended the Vogue 10th Anniversary Fest, and walked the runway as a model at Bangkok International Fashion Week. MXFRUIT has won awards including “Rookie Of The Week”, gone on tours, and released new songs, supported by their fandom “Smoothies”. MXFRUIT has also been invited to events for luxury fashion brands such as Armani, American designers such as Coach, global cosmetic brands like Eucerin, and electronic companies like Samsung. miQuella has also performed and been an MC host for TV show Thailand Music Countdown, presenting with other Thai singers from groups like PiXXiE. Thailand Music Countdown is a spin off from the Mnet K-Pop music show M Countdown known for K-Pop idol comeback performances, created by South Korean company CJ ENM with Thai television company True Corporation through their joint venture True CJ Creations.
