The 100 miles of Danxia and the fiery red rocks are magnificent. This is the provincial highway S101 starting from Urumqi, Xinjiang, also known as the "Tianshan Mountain Geographical Scenic Corridor".
It is also a national defense highway that was abandoned for more than half a century, a barely-known Tianshan scenic highway, a geographical corridor with amazing scenery, and a colorful photography road. It is 308 kilometers long and passes through Danxia, reservoirs, grasslands, canyons and other landforms and attractions along the way. The colorful Danxia here is comparable to Zhangye, Gansu.
In 2018, the list of “100 Most Beautiful Scenic Spots in Xinjiang” jointly initiated by China National Geographic Magazine and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Tourism Development Committee was announced, and Changji’s “100 Miles Bai Li Danxia” was among them.
This episode is from the starting point of S101, the center of the Asian continent to Manas. Due to landslides on the way, we detoured to Hutubi, went to Fenghuang Lake and then returned to S101.
