In today's video I'm making benzene from the commonly found polymer Styrofoam aka polystyrene. By performing a series of chemical reactions such as pyrolysis and oxidation I was successfully able to make a small amount of benzene from OTC sources.
Warning performing the actions seen in this video can be dangerous. Pyrolysis oil is carcinogenic, benzene is also carcinogenic and potassium permanganate is a strong oxidizer.
