Hello friends, in this video we will be conducting the mononitration of phenol to form Ortho and para substituted nitrophenols. We will then effectively seperate and isolate both the compounds.
Chemicals Required
Phenol : 38g
Sulfuric acid 98% : 100g
Sodium Nitrate : 60g
This preparation is adapted from Vogels textbook of practical organic chemistry
