Families across Central Georgia bundled up against the cold Friday morning, filling shopping carts with holiday gifts and creating memories as Black Friday kicked off the busiest shopping weekend of the year.
Lisa Berkely organized a 4 a.m. start to her annual Black Friday shopping tradition, bringing along her sister Lori Belflower and several family members for a carefully planned retail marathon. By noon, their vehicle overflowed with shoes, toys, sweatshirts and blankets destined to become Christmas presents.
"We went to Kohl's in Warner Robins to get our little coupons and then we came to Macon and we've been to B-Turner and the Kohl's here, now we're at Old Navy and going to the River Crossings Mall," Berkely said.
The sisters have perfected their Black Friday strategy over years of shopping together, complete with scheduled meal breaks.
"She has the itinerary, makes the itinerary. I drive and I say where we going," Belflower said, rattling off their remaining destinations: Old Navy, River Crossing mall, Hobby Lobby, Kirkland's and Belk.
