This is the first of a series of three videos about spin stabilized magnetic levitation.
In this first part I show how to set up the drive coils, the base magnets, using a starter to spin the top and synchronize it with a variable frequency and duty cycle generator. The top flies at 128 mm (about 5 inches) over the base indefinitely.
If there is interest, in a second part I will show how to build all the necessary components.
In a third part I will give some elements of relevant theory and show how to design such a device in order to reach target specifications.
