ନାମ “ସିତାକୁଣ୍ଡ” ହେବାର କାରଣ ସ୍ଥାନୀୟ ଲୋକମାନେ ଏକ ପ୍ରସିଦ୍ଧ କଥା କହନ୍ତି—

⭐ ମା ସୀତାଙ୍କ ସହିତ ଜଡିତ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ

କୁହାଯାଏ, ବନବାସ ସମୟରେ ଶ୍ରୀରାମ, ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମଣ ଓ ମା ସୀତା ଶିମିଳିପାଳ ଅଞ୍ଚଳରୁ ଅତିକ୍ରମ କରୁଥିଲେ।

ଏହି ସ୍ଥାନରେ ମା ସୀତା ସ୍ନାନ କରିଥିଲେ, ଏହି କାରଣରୁ ଜଳପ୍ରପାତ ତଳରେ ଥିବା କୁଣ୍ଡକୁ “ସୀତାଙ୍କ କୁଣ୍ଡ” → ସିତାକୁଣ୍ଡ ବୋଲି ନାମ ପଡିଲା।

ପୁରୁଣା ଲୋକମାନେ ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରନ୍ତି ଯେ, ଏଠାର ପାଣିରେ ଶୁଦ୍ଧତା ଓ ପବିତ୍ରତା ରହିଛି।

The name “Sitakund” has a reason behind it, and the local people narrate a famous belief—

⭐ A belief associated with Goddess Sita

It is said that during their exile, Shri Ram, Lakshman, and Goddess Sita were passing through the Similipal region.

At this very place, Goddess Sita took a bath, and for this reason, the pond at the base of the waterfall came to be known as “Sita’s Pond”, which gradually became Sitakund.

The elders believe that the water here holds purity and sacredness.
