TIMELAPSE RENOVATION of the national cultural monument 12 months SLOVAKIA

Welcome to our recap of the past year, 2024, where we will look at the progress of the restoration of a 16th-century merchant house, a national cultural monument. This project is not just about restoring a building, but about preserving the legacy of our ancestors, linking the past, present, and future. Our goal is to preserve the spirit of this historic building and its architecture for future generations. We want to show that not everything needs to be demolished and rebuilt with modern materials that often lack soul and historical value. This monument is a testament to how people once lived and built, and we are working to ensure that this legacy is not forgotten.

In the past year, we have carried out several significant tasks that were both technically and financially challenging. The work involves various materials – stone, iron, brick, and wood – requiring precision, expert skill, and detailed measurements. Each step in this restoration is a challenge as it combines traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques. This process is not simple and requires professionals who understand the uniqueness of such a building and can carry out the work with respect for the historical heritage.

During the planning of the restoration, we worked closely with the regional heritage office to ensure that all work complies with the necessary conservation standards and requirements. In this way, we strive for the most faithful restoration and preservation of the historic values of this significant merchant house.

This work except of donation for project is being carried out without any state support or grants and is funded solely from our own resources. We are halfway through the work, but even now, we can confidently say that every euro spent on this project is an investment in preserving our cultural history and heritage.


We want this project to be more than just the restoration of a building; it is about protecting our architecture and passing on a legacy to future generations. Our goal is to show that not everything needs to be destroyed and replaced with modern materials, but that the spirit of a place can be preserved, as it has been in this historic building. Každý krok v tejto rekonštrukcii je výzvou, pretože ide o spojenie tradičných remeselných postupov s modernými technikami. Tento proces nie je jednoduchý a vyžaduje si profesionálov, remeselnikov, a ludi ktorí rozumejú jedinečnosti takejto stavby a dokážu s rešpektom k historickému dedičstvu prácu vykonať kvalitne.

Tieto stavebne práce sa realizujú bez akejkoľvek štátnej podpory alebo dotácií a financované sú výlučne z našich vlastných zdrojov. Sme v polovici prác, ale už teraz môžeme povedať, že každé euro vynaložené na tento projekt je investíciou do zachovania našej kultúrnej histórie a dedičstva. Akákoľvek podpora od státu by nám pomohla a urýchlila tuto obnovu.

Chceme, aby tento projekt nebol len o obnove budovy, ale aj o ochrane našej architektúry a odovzdaní odkazu našim potomkom. Naším cieľom je ukázať, že nie všetko treba zničiť a nahradiť modernými materiálmi, ale že sa dá zachovať duch miesta, ktorý sa do dnešného dňa zachoval v tejto historickej stavbe. Táto práca nie je len profesijnou výzvou, ale aj poslaním. Naším cieľom je, aby táto pamiatka nebola len historickým pozostatkom, ale aj živým dedičstvom, ktoré bude inšpirovať a učiť aj budúce generácie.
