Tamil Nadu’s New Pamban Bridge: India’s First Vertical Sea-Bridge finally ready for inauguration

Tamil Nadu's New Pamban Bridge, India's first vertical sea bridge, is set for inauguration. This 2.10 km-long engineering marvel will restore rail connectivity to Rameshwaram, replacing the 104-year-old Pamban Bridge, which was shut down in December 2022 due to safety concerns.

With its advanced electro-mechanical lift span, the bridge will allow faster train speeds and enable seamless maritime traffic, boosting both trade and connectivity. Authorities expect the bridge to be operational by March 2025.
