Long Story Short Plot thing:
Flash killed by Lex/Brainiac. . .Thing
Batman is depressed and utterly grief stricken. He begins having dreams where he and Flash are fuck buddies like they used to be. In his dreams, Flash tells him that it's not his fault, but Batman can't let go.
The dreams become more and more frequent until Batman sees Flash everywhere, asleep or not.

TIMESKIP -

The Justice Lords have formed and still, Batman is haunted by Flash, who doesn't approve of the Lords and what they've done.
Lord Batman helps the league get home, setting things right after so many years. Lord Batman and Batman have their little moment.
Flash is finally able to move on
