The FTX-1 has some bugs but it's not all bad.

VK2HEY finds a few glitches discovered in his first week of owning an FTX-1 optima (purchased in Australia) BUT i LOVE IT.

**BUG FIXES - PLEASE NOTE SINCE UPLOADING THIS VIDEO**
--- Next firmware update due in December.
--- PMS FREEZE RESOLVED - Enter the frequencies using the front panel of the rig and not with software. (page 55 of the Yaesu Operation Manual) For some reason, entering these in the "Limit Memories" tab of the programming software causes this problem. Setting the memories by hand and then reading in to the software followed by a write back appears OK.
--- FM REPEATER SIGNAL STRENGTH: Shows zero if AGC is set to OFF. This is the same across the board for ANYTHING ON ANY MODE. Set AGC at least to AUTO. If using software to program the rig, ensure all FM channel's AGC are *NOT* set to "Off." AGC "OFF" with the signal strength needle not moving is a normal occurrence but on the FTX-1, the AGC circuit is also applied to FM. The programming software in my case seems to have defaulted duplex channels to AGC off which can be confusing.

**UNRESOLVED**
--- HIGH SPEED USE OF THE SUB DIAL MAY FREEZE RIG.
--- UP/DOWN SWITCHES ON MIC MAY INDUCE DISTORTION.
--- C4FM reception misbehaving with repeaters. Waiting on next firmware update due in December.
