After a couple of annual delays due to Covid, Steve Kentish and his team finally set off to explore parts of the Antarctic peninsula by ski, while also carrying kayaks. They sailed from Ushuaia on an 18m yacht, prepared for such a trip, late in December 22. By setting up camp sites, on the peninsula, as bases to explore from, the goal was to reach a few unclimbed peaks.
As they soon discovered Antarctica is a tough and remote location, where technical failures and the weather can have a big say in the outcome. Their adaptation to dealing with issues, often at unsociable hours, turned the expedition into a rather ‘exciting’ adventure.
