In the cold, dark waters of the English Channel, 70 feet below the surface, lies a forgotten piece of World War II history—a B-17 Flying Fortress bomber that has rested on the seabed since 1944.
Our dive team made a haunting discovery: the entire crew of 10 young American airmen still at their duty stations, frozen in time exactly where they took their final breaths. The pilot and co-pilot remain seated at the controls. The tail gunner is still positioned at his guns. Empty shell casings scattered around the aircraft prove they fought until the very end.
This isn't just a wreck exploration—it's a journey into the past where we document:
The corroded cockpit where two pilots tried to save their crew
Personal artifacts: dog tags, photographs, letters from home
Military equipment still loaded and ready
The aircraft's identification: B-17G Serial #230417, 381st Bomb Group
Defensive gun positions showing evidence of their final battle
After 80 years underwater, these heroes can finally be identified and their families notified. Every artifact tells a story. Every skeleton represents a life cut short in service to freedom.
This is their memorial. This is their story.
🎖️ We honor the crew of B-17G #230417 who gave everything for our freedom.
⚠️ All exploration conducted with respect and in coordination with military historical preservation societies.
