I'm a big fan of Brazilian composer Egberto Gismonti. His piano composition Lôro has fascinated me for many years. The way he played it as a piano solo and with Hermeto Pascoal on flute is inimitable. Unfortunately, it's way too fast to play as a solo on guitar. So I finally decided to work out a slower solo version based on the lead sheet from the Brazilian Jazz Real Book. I transposed it a half-step down from the key of Eb to D which is a lot easier to play on guitar. This recording is just a first attempt and other versions may follow. The guitar was built by Stefan Sonntag and the recording was made via a tube preamp and an Apogee Duet directly in my MacBook. The camera was a Sony RX-100 mk5 pocket cam.
