Susan B. Anthony Dollar Overstruck on Lincoln Cent — Sold for $3,600!
In July 2025, a truly jaw-dropping error coin sold for $3,600 — a Susan B. Anthony dollar struck on top of a Lincoln cent. Known as a double denomination error, this rare mistake happens when a coin that’s already struck (in this case, a penny) gets hit again with the dies for a completely different denomination (a dollar).
The result? Two designs colliding — Lincoln’s ghostly portrait overlapping with Susan B. Anthony, and fragments of the Lincoln Memorial showing through behind the dollar’s eagle reverse. This unique piece, graded MS62 Brown by NGC, is preserved in sharp detail, making it one of the most fascinating mint errors in U.S. coinage.
👉 Watch as we break down why collectors pay thousands for double denomination errors, the history behind this incredible coin, and why mint mistakes often bring big auction results.
