NOTE: Check the video responses for nice fandubs. :)
This Finnish version of Miku's famous Saihate is my first (and hopefully not last!) :D co-operative effort with DecadenceTea. I was approached by DecadenceTea who had an idea of co-operating with each other. I would make a Finnish version of one of his subbed videos and he would sub it. I gladly grabbed the opportunity, and so, here we are. Thank you, DecadenceTea, for the awesome subbing! Without your initiative, this project would have never materialized! :)
Song info:
Name: Rajan taa (Behind the Border/Line)
Original: サイハテ Saihate
Composer: Kobayashi Onyx
Lyrics: Kobayashi Onyx
Translators:
Japanese to English: DecadenceTea
English to Finnish: me
Finnish lyrics:
Menossa oot rajan taa.
Minkälaistakohan siellä on.
Kerrothan, jos sä pääset
turvallisesti perille?
Ovi rajantakaiseen
aukee sinulle sinne lähtevälle.
Tämän lauluni ja rukoukseni
toivon saavuttavan sinut.
Taivas tänään on pilvetön;
paistaa aurinko kirkkaalta taivaalta.
Tunnen palan kurkussain.
Täydellinen päivä jäähyväisille.
Harmaan arkisen elämäin
sinä värjäsit tulipunaiseksi.
Oli hentoinen lempemme. (2x)
Jää hyvästi!
Jonain päivänä jälleen.
Uskoisinpa meidän jälleen tapaavan.
Tästä eteenpäin kuin ennenkin
jaksanhan jatkaa, enkö niin?
Sitten, kun ovi sulkeutuu,
joudumme erillemme toisistamme.
Savu sinusta muodostuu,
muuttuu pilveksi ja sateeksi taivaan.
Harmaan arkisen elämäin
sinä värjäsit tulipunaiseksi.
Oli hentoinen lempemme. (2x)
Jää hyvästi!
Development history: Hmm, was it on the 12th of November that DecadenceTea suggested this project. I accepted and he PMd me a translation of the song and a couple of off-vocal versions, as well. Thanks, DT! You were most helpful! :) On Nov 13th, I spent the whole two hour train ride back home figuring out how to translate the English translation into Finnish. Even though it doesn't really rhyme, I'm quite pleased with it. On Nov 14th, I started with Vocaloid by typing the notes from my memory and listening to the song in the parts that I didn't remember quite right. The tempo of Saihate, by the way, is 146 BPM precisely. Since the song is so fast, it was hard to make the lyrics understandable. Eventually I was able to make them quite good, but when I mixed them together with the music, they weren't that understandable, anymore. :( However, it had to do, because I had already worked for about six hours straight on the song. I had anyway used all the tricks I had. To give Miku's voice the "Saihate" tone, I set Miku's breathiness parameter to 64 (half of maximum) and used the so called Radio effect (some kind of reverb) in Garageband which I also used to mix the singing together with the music. I sent the music file and the lyrics to DT. The next day, when I woke up, the video was already subbed spot on, and all I had to do was to upload it here.
