Today we’re making the perfect poached egg 🥚 and delicious marinated feta 🧀 — a combination that’s healthy, tasty, and perfect for breakfast, toast, or salads.
✨ Why poached eggs?
Poached eggs have been around since the 15th century in Europe and were a favorite in French cuisine for centuries. They’re soft, silky, and rich — all without frying! That means you get the taste and satisfaction of fried eggs, but in a much healthier way. They also pair beautifully with avocado, toast, or marinated feta.
🥑 Try poached eggs with avocado — the creamy texture combined with the runny yolk is absolutely incredible! And adding marinated feta on top makes it a flavor explosion.
🧂 Poached Egg Ingredients (for one egg):
• 1 fresh egg
• 1 spoon white vinegar
• Salt (to taste)
• Black pepper (to taste)
🧀 Marinated Feta Ingredients (all adjustable!):
• Feta cheese
• Olive oil
• Your choice of herbs or spices (e.g., rosemary, chili flakes, smoked olives, mint)
👩🍳 Instructions (Poached Egg):
1. Heat water until it’s simmering (gentle bubbles, not a rolling boil).
2. Add the vinegar to the water.
3. Crack your egg into a small bowl, then gently slide it into the water.
4. Cook for about 3–4 minutes until the white is fully set but the yolk is still runny.
5. Remove with a slotted spoon and season with salt and pepper.
6. Serve immediately — on toast, with avocado, or topped with marinated feta.
👩🍳 Instructions (Marinated Feta):
1. Place feta and your chosen ingredients in a jar or container.
2. Pour olive oil over the ingredients to cover completely.
3. Let it sit in the fridge for 2–3 days before enjoying.
4. Keep in a tightly sealed container — lasts up to 2–3 months.
5. Serve on bread, salads, or alongside poached eggs for a special breakfast.
