2112 (Pts. 1-7) by Rush Full Band FC

We were sitting on every part bar 7 for a while because I wanted to redo it with X+, but I understood it was a hard sell when GH is frustrating enough to get new FBFCs on. But yesterday was the day, after we got some terrible terrible news, that we decided to finish off 2112 in Guitar Hero.

Celebrity deaths usually don't mean much to me. If we can upload something relevant to show their art will live on forever more, cool, but it's not usually a sticking point of mine. But fuck, something really hit me about Neil Peart dying. We knew he was in poor health for a while, but no one knew the extent of it. Glioblastoma is just a terrible way to go, having lost someone to it myself. I think the words "rest in peace" have never seemed more portentous, because he had one of the rockier personal lives in music; he plain did not deserve to go out at 67 to brain cancer. So I really wanted to put something up, something substantive, for his memory.

And thankfully pretty much everyone was down to do something for the occasion. Even Chris was ready to try 2112 in RB3. And who knows? Maybe we'll do that in a few hours! But Pt. 7 and Tom Sawyer in Guitar Hero is what we decided on, which is good because I really didn't want to use that old camcorder FBFC for the Expert+ footage. It stands to reason that Pt. 7 is actually #1204+, but that'd make the title obnoxious, so that's why it's just a flat six upwards in number.

Dunno if there's much else to say. It's a great project and a great video, commemorating a sad occasion. Thanks for the memories, Neil, and if y'all have any great Neil Peart moments of your own, tell us what they are. For me, it's that buzz roll at the end of The Camera Eye. "No one will hear it on record but it'll be a great joke 27 years from now!", I'm sure he said as he was recording it.
