In this video tutorial, I introduce Biblium: A Python-Based GUI Tool for Bibliometric and Scientometric Analysis, (https://pypi.org/project/biblium/), ( https://github.com/lan-umek/biblium?t...) developed by Lan Umek and Dejan Ravšelj (Slovenia). Biblium supports bibliographic data from OpenAlex (https://openalex.org/), Scopus (https://www.scopus.com/sources) , Web of Science (WoS) (https://www.webofknowledge.com/?) , PubMed (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/) , and Dimensions (https://www.dimensions.ai/) , making it a powerful and versatile tool for research evaluation and science mapping.
The latest version of Biblium (v2.13.1) was released on 16 January 2026, while its first version was launched last year, most likely around August 2025. I initially explored this tool in September 2025 based on the recommendation of Mr. Shakil Ahmad, Liaison Librarian, Deanship of Library Affairs, New Central Library (Building A3), Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Unfortunately, at that time, the tool was not functioning properly. Subsequently, on 9 September 2025, I inquired about this issue via email with one of the developers, Mr. Lan Umek. He informed me that the tool was still under development and indicated that a stable version would most likely be released in November 2025, assuring me that I would be informed once it became available.
The stable and updated version has now been officially released on 16 January 2026.
🔹 What this video covers (Part 1 of the series):

• Prerequisites required to run Biblium in GUI mode, including:
o Latest version of Python
o Jupyter Notebook
o Required Python libraries (demonstrated step-by-step in the video)
• A hands-on demonstration of the first two main sections of the tool:
o “Data” panel
o “Analysis” panel (left-side interface)
This video is the first part of a planned video series on Biblium, where subsequent videos will explore advanced features and deeper analytical workflows.
📌 If you face any issues while installing or running Biblium, or if you need further clarification regarding the prerequisites or analysis steps, feel free to comment on the video—I’ll be happy to help.
