At the end of July I traveled to La Paz, Bolivia, to climb a few mountains. The city of La Paz is at 3700 meters above sea level. So I decided to spend 4 days acclimatizing before I left to the mountains. During those days I roamed around the city, and did the must-see cultural highlights. But CHOLITAS WRESTLING was an unexpected underground jewel of bizarre local culture that I couldn't miss. It's a mix in between American free catch wrestling and the traditional Mexican wrestling.
The whole event/championship lasts about 2 and a half hours. And the entrance fee for foreigners was 50 bolivianos (USD 7.40). If you book it at your hostel, it will include the transportation, and therefore cost 70 bolivianos.
La Paz is an amazing amazing city, crowded with travelers from all over the world., and kind and peaceful locals. There's a lot to see and visit in Bolivia. I'm already planning to return here next year!
