Tim starts with a spinner, or yo-yo, but this one is a double - there are two discs on the thread. Tim shows how you can keep them spinning together, or how you can bring them back together.
Next, make a wobbler from two oval beer mats. The wobbler will roll across the table with a very intriguing motion. Tim also found a more professional version of the wobbler in the same case.
Then a very novel pen that Tim acquired at the New York Toy Fair. The central section is a pen, but there are then two pieces which are attached via hinges. There are all kinds of tricks that you can do with the pen, some of which are demonstrated on their web site - http://baliyo.com/
Finally, a little origami item that Tim originally saw in a Rupert Bear Annual in 1949. A single square of paper folds into what they called the 'hobby horse', and of course it was incorporated into a story in the Annual. The original version just needs two little eyes drawn on, in order to complete the hobby horse. However Tim also has a version with much more elaborate decoration, created by a friend of his!
PS This web site - http://www.origamiheaven.com/historyr... - thinks the Hobby Horse was 1948
