Molecule Man: Meet the three biggest men in Berlin | Walking Tour 4K

Today, I am on a 4K walking tour in a really historic place in Berlin, Germany! I am starting my Berlin walk at the Treptowers in Alt-Treptow and walk along the river spree up to Arena Berlin, catching the famous Molecule Man sculpture on the river Spree. Here, the three Berlin districts of Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg and Treptow meet, symbolized by the three biggest men in Berlin!

🌅 Molecule Man Berlin: one of the best places in Berlin City to watch the sunset

The American sculptor Jonathan Borofsky (*1942) has been experimenting with molecule sculptures since the late 1970s. The Berlin work is one of his largest. The three 30-meter men are made of perforated aluminum plates and weigh a total of 45 tons. Completed in 1999, the trio symbolized the meeting of the three Berlin East and West districts of Friedrichshain, Kreuzberg and Treptow. Later on, there was a district reform in Berlin and the symbolism was a bit lost, but by that time the Molecule Man had long been one of Berlin's most famous sightseeing hotspots!
