Manifolds form the mathematical language behind much of modern physics, from spacetime to fields and symmetries. Yet they are rarely introduced early in formal education. This session offers a gentle introduction to manifolds, starting from basic definitions, proving why a circle qualifies as a one-dimensional manifold and concluding with a discussion of how these ideas quietly underpin physical theories.
● About the Speaker:
» Mahid Anjum is a Mathematical Physics enthusiast currently pursuing his MSc at King’s College London. His academic interests lie at the intersection of mathematics and physics, with a particular focus on the role of geometric structures in physical theories, beyond classical Euclidean geometry.
Outside academics, he enjoys reading, playing chess and table tennis and watching anime. He is an admirer of Fyodor Dostoevsky and his all-time favourite anime is Mushishi.
