“My son, who was eager to get some mandarins and looking forward to eating them, was executed by their bullets.”
A report published on Tuesday by Al Jazeera details how an Israeli sniper killed a young medical student, Hadeel Haroon Abu al-Qura, and her three-year-old cousin, Emad Abu al-Qura in December last year.
According to the boy’s mother, the victims were on their way to buy mandarins from a street vendor near their home when they were struck down by the Israeli sniper.
From his side, Haroon Abu al-Qura, Hadeel’s father, expressed his sorrow over the circumstances that prevented him from bidding his daughter a final farewell, saying: “We couldn’t even take one last look at them or give them a goodbye kiss”, explaining that the neighbours took the bodies of Emad and Hadeel, prayed over them, and buried them, amidst the presence of the Israeli forces.
