In 2015 I got to go on a flight-see to Aniakchak National Monument and land on Surprise Lake inside the 6-mile/10km diameter caldera. The weather wasn't great but bad weather is one of the big reasons so few people are ever able to reach Aniakchak - especially to access the caldera - which makes it the least visited place in the entire United States park system (the visitation count was 10, 14, and 62 people in 2008, 2009, and 2010, respectively). So please forgive my less-than-professional filming. :)
I should also point out that everything you see is inside the Aniakchak caldera - it's big!
Also, I include this with my Katmai videos because Brooks Camp in Katmai is a common jumping-off point for guests wanting to visit Aniakchak. For anyone new to my channel, I have worked many years in Brooks Camp and so was able to go along on this flight-see.
