Recovery of the Omo Bridge in Ethiopia 2013
In the very remote southern region of Ethiopia a new 128m-long steel bridge crossing the Omo River was built in 2011. Due to construction defaults the bridge collapsed into the reiver. VSL Heavy Lifting was chosen to carry out the recovry of fth 550t bridge, including the method to be implemented. The bridge was lifted from the water, put on Temporary support and lauchned 36m into postition following repairs.
