During the winter, it is very important to the flock’s health that the chicken coop remains dry. Humidity in the coop is one of the number one reasons that chickens become ill during the winter. Humidity can quickly become an issue in quite a few ways. Therefore, controlling humidity in the coop should be a winter goal for all chicken owners.
There are two ways that chickens add to or increase the air’s humidity levels.
Normal breathing (respiration)
& Droppings.
Following Strategies are Always Helpful for Controlling Humidity in the Coop.
Be sure the coop has adequate ventilation to allow the excess water vapors in the air to escape.
Check to be sure the chicken coop is not leaking.
Clean out the droppings everyday.
If you are using the deep litter method, be sure you have the correct balance of droppings to Bedding Material.
Consider replacing straw ( Rice Husk ).
Winter bedding should be thick.
Consider painting the walls, roosts and nesting boxes inside your coop.
Remove Wet Litter & Litter Cakes
Remove Chicken Loose Droppings.
The More will be The Humidity inside The Coop, More Suffocation For The Chickens, Resulting Increase of Chicken Morbidity and Mortalities as Well.
01= Increase Chicken Bedding Level According to The Size ( Height ) of Chicken Poop, ( For Example : If Chicken Droppings are On Average 01 Inch From Lower to The Upper Surface, Then, Bedding Level Must be Around 1.5 or 02 inches ( Much Better ) ).

As Soon As Chicken Poop Will Drop on The Surface of Poultry Litter, Bedding Will Start to Absorb Moisture Content out of Chicken Waste. We Don't Want to Reach That Watery Portion At The Bottom of The Chicken Bedding. Because This Moisture Will Increase the Humidity of The Cemented Floor or Soil After Touching That Area. The Result Will be Failure to Dry That Bedding Completely even After Racking or Sunshine. Because, Chickens Will Not Stop to Poop and Situations May Get Severe if Few Chickens Out Or Whole Flock Suffer From Diarrhea. If We Increase Chicken Bedding Level Wisely, That Moisture From Chicken Droppings will Not be Easily Reachable to the Bottom after The Addition of Moisture to The Upper Surface or 50 % of The Placed Bedding. Now, Little Bit Effort regarding Optimum Ventilation, Racking Chicken Bedding and Sunlight will Help Us to Reduce the Humidity of The Coop.
02= Never Let Cakes to Develop inside The Chicken House. Because It takes Too Much Time to Release Moisture From Litter Cakes as Compared to The Scattered Chicken Bedding.
03= Start Planning About Using Long Lasting, Quickly Moisture Absorbent, Quickly Moisture Releaser and Ability to Convert into Fine Powder Poultry Litter Material Right Before High Humidity Weather. Instead of Using New Poultry Bedding in Such Weather.
04= Use Wood Ash
05= Stop Roof Leakage
06= Don't Let Water to Stay Around or Near The Coop
07= Improve Chicken Coop Ventilation
08= Stay Updated to The Weather Forecast
09= Install Hygrometer ( Hang )
10= Use Cemented Floor
11= Keep Extra Chicken Bedding Available
12= Let Wet Poultry Manure Dry and Remix With New Poultry Bedding Following Placing Over Cemented Floor For Chickens
13= Daily Twice, Thrice or May Be Four Times Racking
14= Treat Chicken Diarrhea ASAP

How to Keep Coop Bedding Dry in Winter | Chicken Coop Bedding Maintenance | Slaked Lime Method

If you have Poultry Birds then you need to learn about this important activity to maximise the profitability.
For better health status and optimum performances, this is an effective strategy. Water Treatment, Water Sanitation and Water Disinfection ( Purification ) prevents your flock from many illnesses. Because water can spread Viral, Bacterial, Protozoal and other Disease causing agents among Poultry Birds. For Water Disinfection, Water Chlorination is the common and best method. You can also use other water sanitizers available nearby. If you're going to use Bleach, add 1 cc bleach in 02 Litres of Drinking water for 05 hours daily and for 05 to 06 consecutive days. Add 05 ml bleach in 04 Litres of Water to prepare solution for the cleaning and Disinfection and of Drinkers, Waterers, Utensils, Water Tanks, Cooling Pads, Coop and other Equipments.
