Nightmare Border Crossing: Albania to Montenegro | Heat, Traffic, and No AC

My journey from Tirana, Albania, to Kotor, Montenegro, began with an early morning departure. The bus station buzzed with activity as travelers from all walks of life prepared for their trips. The bus itself was comfortable, and the route promised spectacular views as we headed northwest toward the Adriatic coastline.

The first part of the journey showcased Albania's rugged beauty. Rolling hills, quaint villages, and occasional glimpses of the coastline made the hours fly by. As we approached the Albania-Montenegro border, the bus slowed to a halt at a modest checkpoint. Passports were collected by the driver and handed over to the officials. The process was relatively smooth, though there was a brief wait as border officers performed their checks. Looking out the window, I noticed a mix of travelers—some curious and others seasoned, unfazed by the formalities of border crossings.

Crossing into Montenegro felt like entering another world. The landscape became even more dramatic, with towering mountains framing the view. The winding roads offered breathtaking vistas of the shimmering Adriatic Sea in the distance. The bus made a few stops in small towns along the way, giving a glimpse into Montenegro's charm and way of life.

Arriving in Kotor felt like stepping into a postcard. The UNESCO-listed Old Town, surrounded by its towering fortress and tranquil bay, instantly captivated me. This journey wasn’t just about getting from point A to point B—it was a memorable experience filled with stunning scenery, cultural contrasts, and the excitement of crossing borders in the heart of the Balkans.
