Un homme et son chien (2008) was directed by French filmmaker Francis Huster, it was based on the 1952 film Umberto D.
This was to be French film legend Jean-Paul Belmondo's very last film. He plays Charles, a retiree who lives in a maid's room in the house of his lover, a rich widow. He is forced out onto the street with his dog after the widow decides to marry again and breaks off their relationship. With no home and no way to make money, they wander the streets of Paris.
Philippe Rombi wrote a very nostalgic and sweet score for this film. The "Hotel Pianist" is a piece in an oldfashioned stride-style, which I don't play very often, but it was fun to give it a try.
