The Increasing Importance of Good Antibiotic Prescribing Habits

This presentation will focus on the increasing world problem of antibiotic resistance with a focus on placing BC in context. The family physician role in limiting the problem will be discussed as well as practical strategies for becoming a conservative antibiotic prescriber. The concept of Antimicrobial Stewardship will be introduced and early BC efforts described. By the end, participants will know how to be a conservative antibiotic prescriber, learn pearls to help with difficult decisions, know how to help people identified with antibiotic resistant organisms and where to find trusted help.
