Uganda has taken a historic step to ensure every child’s life counts. UNICEF and the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) on 1 December 2025, signed a memorandum of understanding to launch the country’s first-ever child-centered Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) — a powerful tool to uncover the real conditions children and women face, beyond national averages.
The survey, planned for 2026/27, represents a major step toward strengthening evidence-based planning for children across the country.
MICS is an internationally recognised tool used by governments worldwide to capture reliable information on child health, education, nutrition, protection, water and sanitation, and other key areas of well-being.
The @UBOS–UNICEF collaboration underscores a shared vision: Strengthening Uganda’s data systems so decisions and investments reflect the realities and rights of all children.
