The Padma Multipurpose Bridge is a multipurpose road-rail bridge across the Padma River, the main distributary of Ganges, in Bangladesh. It connects to Shariatpur and Madaripur, linking the south-west of the country, to northern and eastern regions. The bridge was inaugurated on 25 June 2022.

Resolving this challenge and promoting intra-country connectivity is the PMBP, designed to bridge the Mawa and the Janjira banks of the Padma, thereby, linking the southwestern districts of Bangladesh like Faridpur, Jessore, Kushtia, Bhola, and Barishal with those in the northern and eastern parts of the country

The government said Padma Bridge is the pride of the nation which connects the country's southwest region in Bangladesh to the rest of the country. The bridge has reduced the gap between Dhaka to Mongla sea port which is important for regional and international trade

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated the country's longest bridge, which took eight years to build and was plagued by delays, political conflict, high costs and graft allegations.

When completed it will be the largest bridge in Bangladesh and the first fixed river crossing for road traffic. It will connect Louhajong, Munshiganj to Shariatpur and Madaripur, linking the south-west of the country, to northern and eastern regions.
