The Volga river in Russia along the banks close to Saratov was inhabited not only by Russians or Tatar but also by Germans who were invited there to settle and create a sort of prosperity by Ekaterina the Great. They even made in Engels (Pokrovsk at that time) the German republic in USSR. Unfortunately during the first months of the Second World War the Volga Germans were deported from the villages.
Now these wonderful places along the biggest river in Russia are still joy with its beautiful nature and keep some artefacts of its Lutheran inhabitants
