In this video I show you how to make a beer tap handle for your man cave / she shed kegerator or home draft system.
You can make your own beer tap handle with some scrap wood and simple wood working tools right in your shop or garage over a weekend. A dremel, wood router, bandsaw, and some chisels is what I used to build
this beer tap handle. But if you dont have these tools you can substitute hand tools or whatever you have in your shop or garage. The main thing you will need is some beer tap ferrules which can be found
at amazon for very inexpensive, I will leave links below to everything I used in this video. Be sure to let me know down in the comments if you have ever made a beer tap handle !
The first thing I had to do was do some quick google image searches to kind of get my mind in beer tap mode. There are millions of different designs and materials that can be used to make them.
The sky really is the limit on the possibilities ! Once I had a rough idea sketched out for how I wanted it to look, I began work on the most difficult part of my project wich is the medalion portion
that will have the cattle brand relief carved on it . It was this medallion or three inch circle shape that I based my handle on. Once the medallion was completed I used my palm router to remove wood to
recess the medallion into creating a half lap joint basically for the medallion to set in . After I glued the medallion in place I sketched lines directly on the handle to cut out on the bandsaw. From
here I simply used my dremel tool with a kutzall bit to sculpt the forms of the beer tap handle. When I was satisfied with the look I removed a portion of wood on the beer tap handle to pour some
table top epoxy into for another design element . I mixed in some cobalt blue colored pearls to give it some pop, and after fourty eight hours I sanded the expoxy flat. Once the expoxy was flat
I wet sanded from 400 to 1k grit sandpaper . Then finished the epoxy off with a quick polish. Finally I applied three coats of zensor shellac .
