Decarboxylation of monocarboxylic acid :
decarboxylation means remove of Co2 from carboxyl group.
two method are used for decarboxylation
(1)chemical method : in which chemical are used for decarboxylation .chemical name is sada lime .
(2)kolbes electroltic method .
in which electrolytic used .
Na salt of carboxylic acid ionize and then lose electron on anode form free radical which combine to form alkane and Co2 .
water ionize to form H2 gas and NaOH
