The Bailey Bridge was an unsung hero - an engineering triumph that allowed Allied forces to advance across rivers and crossing unlike anything that had come before. Remarkably simple, infinitely adaptable, I wanted to explore the history and development of this genius invention that became so crucial to the allies throughout Africa and Europe.
