Fagradalsfjall lava flows, waterfalls, and a packraft paddle down a crystal clear tectonic fissure. From the ground, the air, and the water, we explore the wind swept hills and shores of Iceland. The stunningly rugged and beautiful vastness of Iceland is our inspiration.
The recently quieted lava flow that we explore starting at 31:33 is from the 2021 "Geldingadalur" eruption of Fagradalsfjall, the first known eruption on the peninsula in about 800 years. A few weeks after this was filmed, substantial parts of the Reykjanes peninsula were evacuated as thousands of earthquakes rattled the region, with the country bracing for the next major volcanic eruption.
Here are some of the key moments:
3:19 - Paddling a remote section of tectonic fissure
15:02 - Reykjanes peninsula drone footage
23:15 - Very old, wind-swept, coastal settlement ruins
26:19 - Lava flow carved river channel waterfall
31:33 - Fagradalsfjall lava flow
