Check out my new house in Myoko, Japan. This is the kind of affordable house people hope to find when looking for a property in Japan. Good condition, great location, and a solid fit for my next steps.
I’ve seen hundreds of Akiya, or “abandoned houses,” across Japan. Many are in rough shape, but sometimes you find a place like this that still has real value. Not every cheap house in Japan is falling apart. Some are real opportunities if you know what to look for.
This property came with an interesting condition from the seller. The buyer needed to live in the area. Since it is close to my current location in Myoko, it worked out perfectly.
This house will be a great project as I grow Orija Tours and continue sharing more about life in Japan. It will also be a big part of my YouTube channel as I show the renovation process and what it’s like to buy and work with Akiya in Japan.
Depending on how everything goes, I might also look at renovating good homes for others to own in the future. If you’re interested in having your own place like this, sign up to my newsletter on www.mattguy.net
Let me know what you think about the house in the comments. I’m also open to ideas for the renovation project.
