The Imperial Palace in Tokyo, Japan is surrounded by a small body of water/moat and the walls are about 65 feet high (20 meters). Tourists can visit a large portion of the imperial palace grounds for free and in this video we explore numerous areas as well as old buildings that had been constructed in the 1600's.
The area where the Emperor and Empress of Japan reside is closed to the public but the surrounding grounds are open to the public from about 9:00 am to 5:00 pm but you do have to pass through a police checkpoint and they will check your bags.
Let's explore the beautiful grounds of the imperial palace and discuss some unique aspects of why the Emperor moved here from Kyoto in the 1860's.
As a side note, I was having microphone issues when recording the video on site and needed to do a voiceover through my computer.
