Vibe of the Hives:
8/31 The great Hive Beetle war has begun. Pulled two supers from MI hives. Deployed beetle traps. Not bad. Treeline-beetle infestation (8/27). Deployed traps. Pulled extra supers.
8/18 Hive shuffle weekend. Removed a disused super from MI Squatterman that has a laying queen.
Backyard reduced smallest hive to one deep and gave two old capped frames. Moved another few feet toward middle of yard.
Local -Pulled capped/dry frames from Cam hive. Pulled a super from Creekside and shuffled least developed frames onto cam hive for now.
8/3 MI TK Pond Hive is CRAZY with the honey. Pulled 30 pounds. My two are also loaded but were not ready.
8/2 Treeline. #2.5 failed. Reduced #3 to one deep. Need to deploy beetle traps. #1 May have honey ready next week.
7/28 Far Side Creek Hive Checks. (7/30 added 2nd deep to single)
7/27 MI SM swapped out 8 super frames. 5 supers have fat frames. Should be stupid amount of honey.
7/20 MI Checks. OOPS! TK1 had a virgin apparently and killed the SM queen. DOH. Should have waited.
7/19 Treeline 1 & 2, Heavy Brood, Light supers. Marked #2.3 queen.
7/18 Cam and Creekside(broodless) Checks.
7/17 Treeline 2.5 QR Skipped 3 4&5 QR
7/16 Back Yard Far side checks.
7/13 MI Hive Checks. Pulled queen from SM to TK1
7/7 Cam hive QR 1 bitty play cup. Pulled super of capped honey.
7/5 Treeline Checked Hives #1-2(light) #3,6+Brood Box
7/1 Checked some of Treeline. One of them may have tossed a small swarm or perhaps the queen
6/27 Checked Creekside. Raked out all but single single oldest queen cell. Brood boxes and supers still plenty heavy. Can ignore brood until July 8th.
6/23 Caught a swarm out of Creekside. Homed at back of property.
6/20 Inspected Cam Hive. 2.5 supers full but not capped.
6/19 Inspected Tree Line hives. Made one queen cell split. DRY SUPERS. Good Brood boxes.
6/14 Inspected Creekside. Added supers to both.
6/9 Cam Hive checked. QR no cells, a few bitty cups.
6/7 All checks done except for Cam Hive... Target Monday/Tuesday. Saw a brand new queen at the Tree Line yard.
5/31 Backyard. Found a single well developed swarm cell in Cam Hive. Made a single frame split with it. Left the queen caged for about 40 min while I shook out some frames. MANY BEES.
5/31 Treeline Hives 4/23 splits now queenright. All look good.
5/24 One new queen observed at southern yard. 1 of 6 queenright. Backyard, QR no Qcells.
5/21-22 Overnight Main Internet out. Feed up as long as phone holds out lol!
5/18 Treeline inspections done. One replaced queen. One week too early on split returns.
5/16 MI hives Squatterman only checked super, Split only checked top box. No changes. TK - moved one frame of bees to other hive. Removed Q-cups no changes.
5/14 Inspected Cam Hive. Marked queen looked great. Plenty of brood. Plenty of nectar. No queen cells. Removed dangly comb.
5/10 MI Squatterman swarmed. Made full brood box split and gave split a 2nd drawn deep. Super on Squatterman double deep. TK hives bouncing back good.
5/9 Treeline Super added to "Nate" VERY broody. Supers being worked by other two. Fourth slow. Checks for new queens laying next week.
5/7 Backyard Hives, QR added supers.
5/1 1st 2025 grass cut. Pissed off a bee hive!
4/30 Checked treeline. Slow hives are still slow. Tore out a few empty cups. Low brood counts. Likely will requeen when able if they are big enough and or combine. The two really seem to be struggling bringing in resources while other two are rocking. Competition?
4/25 Cam Hive QR BE added deep. Creekside capped brood, Q? shook small captured swarm out in front of hive.
4/23 Hive Checked. Made two queenright splits. Left several well developed queen cells behind. Weakest hive ramped up well.
April - 4/13/2025 Checked four of four queenright hives at southern yard. Michigan hives reportedly strong.
